I actually suggest visiting in June or September when the weather is more comfortable and you can still swim. Plus, there won’t be too many tourists. No surcharge during weekends in these two months. Generally, by late August to early September, there is a small opening of the fishing season, allowing you to enjoy fresh seafood.

Similarly, I recommend visiting Qiandao Lake in June or September for the best experience. This package is especially rare because there are no surcharges for weekends in June and September.

3) SpringHill Suites Qiandao Lake Hangzhou, 2 nights with breakfast, 788 yuan.

This SpringHill is located in the center of Qiandao Lake and is surrounded by water on three sides, as you can see in the image above. The environment is quite good. It opened in 2023 and has good hardware. It features an infinity pool, skywalk, and observation platform.

This is considered a high-cost-performance option at Qiandao Lake.

Hainan

The Ritz Carlton in Yalong Bay is close to the beach and the sea, making it easy to swim. Below is a look at the distance from some public areas of the Ritz to the ocean, it’s very close.

The hotel beach features fluffy little pine balls, which make for a great photo backdrop.

The Marriott in Yalong Bay has a good location. I personally think Marriott, Sheraton, and MGM have the best locations in Yalong Bay, all positioned in prime areas.

Don’t let the fact that the Marriott opened in 2004 mislead you; the hotel underwent a complete renovation in 2020, when all public areas and rooms were rebuilt, resulting in an outstanding hotel experience.

Here’s a look at the rooms in this Marriott, quite charming.

Dining has never been Marriott’s strongest feature, but I recommend the seaside restaurant, where chefs prepare meals right in front of you as you enjoy the view. Such seaside dining spots are only found in Yalong Bay and within the beautiful Donghai.

The standout feature at Shimei Bay Westin is certainly its beach. This long stretch of white sand beach, about 6 kilometers long, is exclusive to Westin and Le Méridien, making it virtually private.

The beachfront allows for surfing, and it’s important to note that you can surf immediately upon stepping out of the hotel. Surfing is a physically demanding activity; not needing to track sand and surfboards back to the hotel is a big perk.

But if you’re inexperienced or just starting, don’t worry! The Westin has a surf school where national team coaches provide classes. Many of my friends have learned to surf here, and usually by the end of the first lesson, you’re standing upright on the board.

In addition to surfing, the beach also offers fine camping, paragliding, and land RTV, providing plenty of entertainment.

I have stayed here, and it’s close to the new Liberation Monument, situated in a great location for travelers in Chongqing. The Yuzhong Peninsula is naturally high, thus many rooms at this JW offer great views overlooking the peninsula.
