The promotion has an exceptionally long validity period, and the summer vacation price increases are very reasonable. There’s no increase during weekdays, just a slight markup for one month on weekends. As you know, during summer vacations, seaside hotels usually inflate their prices significantly. However, the price increase for Baixiang Wutong this summer is not too much, especially considering that the hotel has direct access to the beach, which is indeed a must-have for families with children. They don’t hike prices during holidays like the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, so anyone with travel plans should definitely book as soon as possible.
This price is incredibly attractive! I will share the package we recommended for Baixiang Wutong during the same period last year. Among the three packages, I highly recommend the 2-night stay in a deluxe sea-view room, which includes a meal that you can choose from Chinese, Japanese, or a buffet. The dining options at Wutong are quite strong, with six restaurants and bars available in the hotel. We’ve dined at all three included restaurants in this package, with the buffet being at the newly opened Yangyang Tea Restaurant last year. The tea restaurant is designed with Minnan culture and Southeast Asian style, serving traditional Fujian and Cantonese dim sum.
The city-view and sea-view rooms are similar in size, differing primarily in their views. The sea-view rooms at Baixiang Wutong provide a direct view of the coast, making it possible to see the sunrise from your room if you wake up early. The rooms start at 47 square meters, which is quite spacious for Xiamen Island where land prices are extremely high. The windows of the city-view rooms face the outlet mall and Xiamen Baixiang Exhibition Center.
The sea-view rooms at seaside hotels are quite valuable; I captured a screenshot of the off-season prices, already approaching 1000 RMB per night. During summer, it’s undoubtedly more expensive. In essence, you’re getting a 40% discount on the room rate for just two nights and an extra meal included — it’s truly a bargain! Baixiang Wutong consistently delivers fantastic offers, and naturally, the competitive pricing is a key factor, but I believe the hotel’s reliability is crucial too. The universal formula for selecting a city hotel is simple: check the location, then the amenities. Baixiang Wutong checks all the boxes.
Xiamen Island isn’t too large, and staying at a hotel on the island makes it convenient to visit attractions or explore the old town for dining. For guests from outside the province like myself, Baixiang Wutong is only 10 minutes to the airport and within a 25-minute drive to Xiamen Railway Station, Xiamen North Station, and the ferry terminal to Gulangyu Island. This location is incredibly convenient for first-time visitors or frequent travelers to the city!
Now let’s talk about the amenities at Baixiang Wutong, which are quite impressive. Both natural, hardware, and commercial facilities are excellently equipped. While Xiamen is a coastal city, having a beach right in front of the hotel is quite rare! There are a few outside the island, but I genuinely only know of Baixiang Wutong on the island. What’s more, it has a private beach, ensuring excellent privacy!
Many things only become apparent after having children; for kids, factors like the hotel’s hardware or location may seem secondary. Having a beach signifies having everything they need. The hotel offers free rental of sand digging tools, and while they might tire of listening to children’s songs and reading picture books in 30 minutes, they can sit on the beach and dig all day long.
Looking at it this way, as a time-honored tourist city, Xiamen has an abundance of hotel choices. But if you combine the criteria of “within Xiamen Island” and “with a beach out front,” you find that the only option is the Baixiang Wutong Hotel.
In terms of hardware, Baixiang Wutong stands out. Opened in 2017, it is owned by Xiangye, a local powerhouse that invests heavily in the hotel. The prime location on the island speaks volumes about the quality of the hardware used in various aspects.
The lobby is exceptionally beautiful, integrating various marine elements, with a vibrant school of glass fish swimming overhead, reflected on the sailboat-shaped floor tiles, making the hotel feel like an aquarium.
The hotel room keycards are filled with local Fujian and Xiamen elements, featuring images of white herons, Sunlight Rock, and Wind Lion God.
There are many picturesque spots around the hotel, where numerous celebrities have stayed, and some film and television dramas have been shot, offering many positions to recreate star-style photos. Don’t forget that all packages include a complimentary travel photoshoot!
I’m also surprised that Baixiang has equipped Wutong with five dining bars and, thinking it wasn’t enough, they added a tea restaurant at the end of last year, bringing the total to six!
**Chacha All-Day Dining**
I must highlight the hotel’s buffet, which is genuinely impressive. It feels like the Eight City market has been moved here, with a live seafood tank containing over 20 types of fresh seafood. They replenish it frequently. Standard preparations like stir-fried and poached dishes, as well as Fujian-style soy sauce water, are all available, ensuring a satisfying seafood experience!
**Hanlan Pavilion Chinese Restaurant**
This restaurant specializes in Fujian and Cantonese fusion dishes, and the environment is quite upscale. If you choose the Chinese restaurant in the sea-view room package, you’ll get a set meal that includes five dishes, a soup, and one main dish. The dishes are well thought out, including fish, shrimp, and beef, with generous portions — enough for two adults and a child.
**Ruoshui Cuisine**
The dishes here are quite classic, offering options like eel rice, sushi, and tempura. During your dining experience, there are also interactive elements, like choosing chopsticks before the meal, which enhances the overall dining experience.
**Yangyang Tea Restaurant**
This newly opened restaurant is focused on delicate Fujian and Cantonese dim sums with an open kitchen design. Here, lunch is served buffet-style, and you must try the birdcage pigeon and the specialty black truffle shrimp dumplings, as the hotel uses quality ingredients.
**Lobby Water Dance Bar**
Situated in a visually stunning corner of the lobby with unbeatable ocean views, this also serves as a great spot for afternoon tea. We’ve tried a set here previously, and the Napoleon and beef sandwiches were delicious.
**Weiyang Bar**
This is a visually striking rooftop bar that has been featured in TV dramas. At night, come here for some music, relax with a drink, and it will help with your sleep.
**Executive Lounge**
The hotel’s executive lounge on the 22nd floor offers panoramic views of both the city and sea, giving you that “overlook all mountains” feel. The executive treatment at Wutong is commendable, allowing guests to enjoy meals from morning to night (from 6:30 am to 10 pm) with four meals a day. I heard that not only are various Western-style dishes available at night, but also Taiwanese curry chicken rice and beef noodles, with different daily menus. Whether you eat here or not is another matter, but at least the arrangement is very generous!
In addition, the hotel’s gym, yoga room, and swimming pool also boast stunning ocean views. The mood while working out matters significantly; having beautiful scenery can motivate you to keep exercising.
Guests can reserve personal training and yoga sessions for free, and if it’s not raining, there’s beach yoga available. Such experiences, which are often chargeable at other hotel brands, are offered for free to enhance guest experiences at Baixiang Wutong, showcasing the true spirit of a local brand!
Lastly, let’s talk about the commercial amenities around Baixiang Wutong. Right next to the hotel is the Xiamen Baixiang Exhibition Center and Wutong Ferry Terminal, and a short walking distance away is an outlet mall, while Wanda Plaza is also nearby. If you prefer not to eat at the hotel, there are plenty of dining options around. Moreover, the hotel is just a bridge away from the newly established Olympic Sports Center (including the Phoenix Sports Center and White Egret Stadium), approximately a 15-minute drive away. There will be many concerts in Xiamen during the second half of the year, and the hotel will provide guests with free shuttle buses.
The location of the hotel makes it easy to reach Xiamen’s famous attractions. If you don’t want to go far, there’s plenty to do around the hotel.
**Wutong Lighthouse Park (3-minute walk)**
Wutong Lighthouse Park blooms with flowers year-round and is a relatively lesser-known attraction, with few visitors, rather like a backyard for the hotel, just a few minutes’ walk away.
Lighthouses of various sizes are scattered along both sides of the road, replicas of famous lighthouses from around the world, complete with engravings of their names, heights, and locations.
The park also features wide lawns where children can play freely. The tallest Wutong lighthouse is accessible for climbing, providing a breathtaking view of the ocean and Xiamen Island from the top.
**Wuyuan Bay Yacht Club (10-minute drive)**
Sailing out to sea is a must-do activity when visiting the beach. Xiamen has only three docks for sailing or yachting, and Wuyuan Bay is the newest and best-equipped one.
Sailing here is purely wind-powered and quite thrilling; I recommend going around sunset to enjoy a stunning view from the boat as the sun sets over the sea. Some friends have said it’s the best maritime activity in Xiamen, and given its proximity to the hotel, don’t miss out! The flagship store also sells related packages for marine experiences.
