Rannalhi Island is located at the northern tip of the South Male Atoll, about 45 minutes by speedboat from the capital Male, offering a serene white sandy beach.
Don’t overlook Rannalhi Island’s affordability; despite being cheaper, it possesses high-quality beaches and snorkeling conditions within Maldives resorts. Moreover, the waves and currents here are relatively gentle, making snorkeling significantly easier.
Foreign guests tend to prefer this island.
The lovely beach is genuinely fantastic, featuring a little trailing sand.

Rannalhi has the highest population of white-tip reef sharks, visible easily.
This package offers two nights in a Classic Beach Room and two nights in a Water Bungalow. It’s important to note that the Classic Beach Rooms are not standalone villas but rather adjacent rooms (four units per building), with each room covering only 37m².
The Classic Beach Rooms were renovated in 2018, and all internal decorations were completely changed, so the rooms feel fresh and not outdated.
The Water Bungalows are somewhat better. The bungalows are divided into paired units; therefore, each water bungalow actually contains two rooms.

Hudhuranfushi is a famed surfing island.
Only three hotels in the Maldives have private surfing spots. A private surfing spot means that only registered surfers can access it.
If you want to experience world-class surf breaks up close, Hudhuranfushi is the place to be.
The surfing team at Hudhuranfushi consists of professional coaches from the Maldives national surfing team, and you can learn to surf here; the basic courses cost around $99 (not fully confirmed).
Don’t worry about the waves making snorkeling difficult. The main island is quite large, and the areas for beach villas and water villas are suitable for snorkeling; as you can see from the picture below, one side has waves while the other is relatively calm with colorful underwater visuals.
Hudhuranfushi is a large island with no wave barriers; it also boasts tennis and soccer fields. Additionally, there’s a kids’ club suitable for children.
The kids’ club at Hudhuranfushi can take care of children aged 4-12 for free during the day, although it’s advisable for parents to take their kids out for meals around lunchtime.
Hudhuranfushi was quite well-known among Chinese tourists before the pandemic.
Among Maldives’ entry-level five-star resorts, Hudhuranfushi likely offers the most all-inclusive amenities. With access to five restaurants, three bars, three excursions, and a couples spa treatment, you really can’t find a more generous deal in the same price range.
The included three excursions generally consist of snorkel trips with guides, with the other two based on the day’s arrangements, typically options of sunrise, sunset, or dolphin tours.
I’ve not seen any other Maldivian island that offers three excursions in a package.
The Hudhuranfushi package consists of two beach and two water villas.
This island has a balanced number of beach villas and water villas, so accommodating two adults and two children is not an issue.
The beach villas are standalone, measuring 60m². They were fully renovated in 2019, and all furnishings were replaced. Just step outside and you’re at the beach and sea.
The water villas were renovated post-2017 and measure 65m².
Internally, the Water Villa is designed like this, and if you’re traveling with two adults and two children, you can request an additional bed. For the four islands in this package, additional beds will not incur extra charges (but it’s advised to inform the hotel in advance).
There’s a butler service in the water villas, but not in the beach villas.
While staying in the water villa, you have access to a dedicated restaurant—the Sunset Restaurant.
This restaurant boasts great views with an outdoor area built over the sea, and at night, the lights attract sharks.

Vadoo Island is a small, private island with no barriers or seaweed surrounding it. The entire island features only 50 rooms, all water villas. Thus, this island is strictly for adults.
Vadoo boasts excellent beach and snorkeling conditions, with over one-third of the island covered in sand and a tiny trailing beach.
You don’t even need to go out for snorkeling when around Vadoo’s massive underwater coral landscape.
On the opposite side, there’s an underwater cliff, and where such cliffs are present, the marine life is most diverse.
Guests can spot sharks, including blacktip sharks, gray sharks, and tunas… Upon arrival, you’ll be informed about the best spots to observe them.
Here’s what the underwater view of the water villas looks like. This island excels at providing superb snorkeling experiences right from the shore.
