Among Wanda Yuehua, Holiday Inn Express, Wanda Momoland, and Wanda Jinhua Resort, I highly recommend the Wanda Jinhua Resort.
Wanda Jinhua used to be a Holiday Inn, centrally located in the resort area. It has the cable car starting point, Fokulun Lake, and a shopping and dining street nearby, plus children’s entertainment zones, which makes it very suitable for family trips.
Wanda Jinhua Resort serves as the family-friendly option within the resort, featuring many public areas decorated with various family-friendly activities.

How to enjoy Changbai Mountain?
Let me share a map.
You can opt for the North, West, or South slopes and then climb to the Changbai Mountain Heavenly Lake.
I recommend the following selection:
*Convenience of transport*: North slope = West slope > South slope. Both the North and South slopes provide direct transport, while the West slope requires hiking.
*Variety of attractions*: North slope > West slope > South slope.
*Visibility of the Heavenly Lake*: West slope ≈ South slope > North slope.
*Summer Forest Rafting*
The first rafting route along the Songhua River takes about 1-1.5 hours, mainly passing through forests, serene, and cool rivers.
*Changbai Mountain Heavenly Lake Rafting* offers longer and shorter courses; the long course lasts 1 hour and 20 minutes, the short 50 minutes.
This pathway is wider, and there will be more participants enjoying the water together.
Rafting through the forest gorge on the North slope is more popular, lasting about 40 minutes—ideal for escaping the heat under lush trees.
Now let’s talk about autumn at Changbai Mountain.
Autumn at Changbai Mountain lasts about 20 days but is absolutely stunning. You don’t need to search for autumn; the colors wrap around you everywhere—on the roads, outside your room, along pathways in the resort, and along the banks of the river during rafting trips.
If you’re lucky, the first snow at Changbai Mountain can also fall during autumn.
The best viewing time for autumn colors is from early to mid-September to early to mid-October. This period is conveniently between the summer peak season and the snowy period, so the value for autumn at Changbai Mountain remains high, even during the National Day holiday.

Flights to Changbai Mountain are available from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing, Nanjing, Changchun, Dalian, Wuxi, Fuzhou, Hefei, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi’an, and Harbin (some flights include layovers). The area is also accessible by high-speed rail.
