Today is a major highlight for Phuket, and there are no price increases during the May Day, summer, and National Day holidays. Yesterday featured a collection of hotels in Thailand, while today focuses on a single hotel in Thailand. I organized it this way because we insist that any hotel we strongly recommend must be personally experienced.
As I publish this post, I am currently at the Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort. This time, we have options for couples without kids, as well as family-friendly options that can accommodate children!
Ctrip’s big promotion for Thailand has introduced a wide range of products, and there are definitely dozens of options available. I’ve focused on two hotels, one is the Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort, and the other is the Ritz-Carlton in Koh Samui. I’ll be visiting the Ritz-Carlton in a few days, so I’ll owe you that report.
Now, let me explain why I chose the Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort. First, I’ll share a map of Phuket.
The finest beaches and waters in Phuket are located on the west side. Patong Beach, Karon Beach, and Kata Beach are the three major entry-level beaches in Phuket, known for their convenient transportation and rich amenities, as well as a wide selection of resorts. Out of these three beaches, I believe Kata Beach has the best sand and water.
The Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort is located at the small Kata Beach. I directly screenshot a map; Kata Beach consists of two sister beaches, “Big Kata” and “Small Kata,” which have a W-shaped layout.
However, the distinction is that Small Kata Beach has only two hotels (Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort and Kata Thani Beach Resort), which are managed by the same owner and management company, while Big Kata Beach has over 100 hotels. Karon Beach has around 300 hotels, and Patong has more than 1000 hotels. The selection of resort hotels is crucial, and the exclusive access to this segment of the beach is absolute bliss. Additionally, Small Kata Beach has plenty of facilities, including numerous restaurants, a 7-Eleven, and a wide range of water activities.

Now let’s look at Big Kata, which features a much denser construction and many more hotels.
Here’s another photo I captured using a drone. You can see the water at Small Kata; the boats look like they are floating—it’s truly amazing!
The Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort has many highlights:
No price increases during the May Day, summer, or National Day holidays. There are also no price increases in November, even as Phuket enters its peak season. It is the hotel with the most sea-view villas in Phuket, with a total of 98 villas, 82 of which have sea views. All villas come with a private pool, which is temperature-controlled all day, allowing for swimming in the morning or at night.
Service is guaranteed with over 120 employees for just 98 villas, giving a staff-to-room ratio of over 1.2. This figure does not even include management and support staff (finance, legal, procurement, etc.). The hotel is adults-only, meaning each room can accommodate only two people, with no guests under 18 allowed (except in dual-bedroom configurations, which can accommodate two adults and two children, provided the kids are over 12). This setup leads to a quieter atmosphere.
For families traveling with kids, don’t be too quick to dismiss this option; the nearby Kata Thani Beach Resort is a family-friendly hotel with exciting packages available today!

Next, I will provide a detailed introduction to the Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort and the Kata Thani Beach Resort.
These two hotels are paired together and are located on Small Kata Beach in the southwestern part of Phuket. The Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort is situated on a hillside, offering stunning views; the Kata Thani Beach Resort is built along the beach, making access to the beach relatively easy.
The Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort is adults-only, with a maximum occupancy of two guests per room (four in the two-bedroom villa). The Kata Thani Beach Resort, on the other hand, is very child-friendly and allows children to stay, accommodating two adults and one child in each room.
Let me discuss each one individually.
The Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort
Do not underestimate this hotel, which opened in 2010; it underwent a complete renovation in 2017, and the featured Sea View Romantic Pool Villas were constructed in 2016.
My experience during the stay was that the hardware was excellent, and the facilities relatively new.
This hotel caters to couples and friends on vacation, so its facilities are particularly suited for couples. The property features a uniquely modern sea-view chapel that is visually appealing. The wedding altar in the chapel offers an unobstructed view of the sea.
Inside, you can enjoy transparent vistas of the sea.
There is also a transparent glass bridge, perfect for great photos.
The hotel has two infinity pools with ocean views, one of which is a seawater pool.
The gym also boasts full ocean views, which is quite comfortable.
When the weather is nice, beautiful sunsets can be enjoyed; watching sunsets on Phuket’s west coast is wonderful, and it’s also romantic for couples.
Regardless of whether you’re staying at this villa hotel or the other resort, you can relax on the beach and watch the sunset.
The Kata Thani Phuket Beach Resort has two restaurants. The Myth restaurant specializes in Thai cuisine, which I found quite reliable with tasty tom yum goong. The average cost is reasonable, about 100 RMB (with no seafood). The portions served are very generous; two dishes are enough for two people.
The Port Restaurant focuses on international cuisine, offering beautiful views of Small Kata Beach, perfect for watching the sunset.
The Port Restaurant features live music at night; during my three-night stay, there were performances on two occasions.
Regarding the rooms, the entire property consists of villas, each with a temperature-controlled private pool. I recommend going for the Romantic Sea View Pool Villa, which is the third tier of villas (Garden View Pool Villa – Sea View Pool Villa – Romantic Sea View Pool Villa).
The price is for one night’s stay with breakfast + afternoon tea, totaling 2627 yuan. That’s the type of villa I stayed in during this visit.
The Romantic Sea View Pool Villa has an area of 130 m² and includes a panoramic ocean-view infinity pool. This pool measures 6.8 x 3.5 meters and is slightly larger than the basic villas. The pool’s viewpoint is exceptional.
This pool is temperature-controlled all day, allowing for floating breakfast. The floating breakfast service costs 999 THB for two (approximately 200 RMB), which is quite reasonable.
Additionally, these specific villas were built in 2016, so they are relatively new. Whether you’re lying in bed or using the restroom, the sea view is always visible.
Furthermore, you can request breakfast to be brought to your villa at no charge (excluding the floating breakfast).
The price-performance ratio is outstanding; when I checked the off-peak rates, the standard villa costs over 2700 yuan for one night. This time, with this tier of villa, there is also an additional afternoon tea included.
I’ve photographed the afternoon tea as well; it is quite lavish.
The best value for money is the Garden View Pool Villa, priced at 1895 yuan for one night with breakfast + afternoon tea; two nights with breakfast + afternoon tea totals 3679 yuan. The Garden View Pool Villa is also 130 m², with nearly identical interior design, but without a sea view.
This is truly high value, at roughly 70% of the calendar price, and it comes with extra afternoon tea. If you book for holidays like May Day or National Day, two nights would normally cost 3300 yuan or more; this package is almost half the price.
If you have a larger group, consider the two-bedroom option. The Kata Thani Phuket Two-Bedroom Pool Villa is 4007 yuan for one night with breakfast + afternoon tea, and 7346 yuan for two nights with breakfast + afternoon tea.
