Recently, I’ve become quite fascinated with concerts, music festivals, and even Yue Opera. However, as you can understand, this year has many performances, but grabbing tickets has always been a challenging task. Even for the Zhejiang Xiaobaihua’s Yue Opera performance of “New Dragon Gate Inn,” I’ve tried to get tickets every time they were released but ended up not being able to secure any. In the end, I had to resort to purchasing them at a higher price on the Xiao Huang app.
However, I have slowly developed a set of ticket acquisition strategies. Instead of competing with everyone on major platforms like Damai, I’ve been exploring some lesser-known channels to obtain tickets. For example, Fliggy’s F6 offers a box seat ticket for concerts each quarter, and last month I used this benefit to see Jolin. Ctrip also frequently has packages that combine concert tickets with hotel stays; for example, this July, during the SBS Song Awards, I’m planning to stock up on Ctrip’s bundled tickets. Some resort complexes also like to host concerts and offer bundled tickets; last year, we got our tickets for Mayday at the MGM in Macau. These approaches are much more convenient than trying to grab concert tickets directly and often provide better value for money.
Hyatt Group is also organizing concerts, or perhaps a more appropriate term would be private music gatherings, which are more intimate and specialized, allowing fans to be closer to the stars. There will be one such event in July, taking place at the Hyatt Centric in Zhongshan Park, Shanghai. Hyatt has invited two celebrities, Liu Lian and Yuan Yawei. There will be just over 100 audience members in total: 30 members, 30 relatives of members (who can bring a guest), as well as some fans. The intimate setting means more interaction with the stars.
I must say that Hyatt has excellent taste in choosing celebrities. Liu Lian has participated in “The Band’s Summer” twice, and those who emerged from this show tend to have a strong live presence. Liu Lian is also the singer-songwriter of “Don’t Speak, Just Kiss,” which was used as the background music for Hyatt’s recent promotional video “Healing This Heart: The Holy Grail Ace.” I’ll share a link here; it’s really melodic and nice.
Yuan Yawei just appeared on “I Am a Singer” for the second time, and in her latest episode that aired just a few days ago, she chose her original song “BORED” to make a strong entrance on the charts. Both are indeed powerhouse performers.
Holding a concert in a hotel is quite fun as it allows for a closer experience with the stars without the crowd. Hyatt already held one concert earlier this year at the Andaz in Xiamen, featuring musician Chen Jingfei. This July will mark the second concert, and I hope there will be a third and fourth to follow.
Now, let me elaborate on this event:
– Event date: July 27
– Event location: Hyatt Centric Shanghai Zhongshan Park
– Event perks: Each attendee can bring one guest for a night of free accommodation, including breakfast for the following day
– Registration period: Now until July 3
Once chosen for entry, members must redeem 6,000 Hyatt points to participate. In simple terms, 30 qualifying members will be drawn, and each can bring a guest. This includes not only the concert but also accommodation and breakfast.
To participate, firstly, you need to be a Hyatt member and have attended a Hyatt member day event. Secondly, you must have activated three or more “Yue·Meeting Room Cards.”
I know you may be curious about how to obtain the “Yue·Meeting Room Cards”:
On member days, valid expenditures of over 1,000 yuan on Wednesdays allow you to earn one “Yue·Meeting Room Card,” along with extra points.
(Note: Consumption must be valid during member days.)
Hyatt has member days every Wednesday; on these days, if you book a room or purchase voucher products through the Hyatt mini-program and complete your stay or dining within the next 15 days, it counts as valid consumption, thereby earning extra rewards.
I previously detailed that Hyatt actually has two membership systems in China. One is for their official flagship store on Fliggy, focusing on a points cashback logic (points can be exchanged for discount vouchers against packages, although there are no SNP), and points from the Hyatt Fliggy store can also offset room costs. The other is for their official website and mini-program, mainly dealing with rights logic (earning points and valid stays upon checking in, which can elevate your Globalist status).
The mini-program falls under the latter category: booking rooms (using the calendar or room vouchers) via the mini-program will yield Hyatt points and allow for member upgrades for your stays. Every Wednesday, member day enhances these benefits further. For instance, reserving Hyatt hotels on Wednesdays grants more points and more recognized stays. Hyatt’s goal here is to encourage members to book through the mini-program more frequently, particularly on Wednesdays.
The Wednesday member day at Hyatt is certainly worth mentioning. It was introduced last year and returned with a fresher offering in April this year, much to members’ delight. Overall, booking during this time is cost-effective, offering more points, and this year, there are also rewarded recognized stays.
In the future, it’d be wise to plan your bookings for Wednesdays. Apart from the inherent advantages of member days, they recently added extra benefits, essentially offering rewards and discounts for two weeks each month.
After activating the Room Card benefits, you will also receive additional points and recognized stays.
Moreover, this concert is taking the benefits offline, directly allowing members to participate in a private music event. Hyatt aims to let more people who are unaware of Hyatt discover it, inviting those who aren’t yet members to join. Additionally, it’s an opportunity to inform everyone about Hyatt’s member day on Wednesdays, which offers numerous benefits for bookings. Perhaps you may miss out on this event this time due to not having the “Yue·Meeting Room Card,” but who knows, when Hyatt organizes their third concert, you might just be able to participate.
Lastly, let me introduce the event hotel, the Hyatt Centric Shanghai Zhongshan Park. The Hyatt Centric brand focuses on catering to the needs of young people. We have stayed there, and the style can be broadly described as an integration of brand and local features, producing a product rich in local culture. The application of Haipai culture in the hotel is quite mature; you can really find many elements of 20th-century Shanghai throughout.
The room design is also bold and avant-garde, making it one of my favorite aesthetically pleasing rooms. The views are nice as well, with certain room types overlooking Zhongshan Park.
We have previously written a detailed article on this. The first Hyatt Centric in the Asia-Pacific! A new hotel has opened in Shanghai!
Finally, I’ll share the link to the Hyatt WeChat mini-program so everyone can check out the event. Moreover, every Wednesday is the member day within the mini-program, where booking rooms or buying packages will earn you extra points.
